"Voting Yes on California's Proposition 7 is something the Democrats and Republicans should both agree on — it's dumb and dangerous! In these days of uncertainty do we really need waste time changing the way we change clocks? No."

We are all Time Travelers

Time travel isn’t just for scarf wielding British aliens, but all of us. We are all time travelers moving at the speed of one-second into the future every second - but what if you could go forward a whole hour? Or back an hour? Thanks to Daylight Savings time, everyone effected gets to be a time traveller twice a year!

If you travel east or west, eventually you will come to a place where time is different and your clock needs to change. You have literally travelled across time! And if you get in a jet and fly fast enough, you can go back to yesterday - or tomorrow! But you don’t have to be a frequent flyer to travel in time.

Politicians are not satisfied with controlling your money - now they're coming after your time! And not just the hour that's currently borrowed by the government but the time you need to go through a long and confusing ballot being tricked into voting against your own interests. Can anyone trust people with so much power and money they can mess with time itself AND NOT SPEND ONE DOLLAR?

Control of the clock is their weapon - and they seek to control EVERYTHING! Set your clock to your own time zone and be your own master. Noon is when the sun is over your head and make everyone else bow to your schedule. Be free of Atomic Doomsday by creating your own leap year and skip ahead. Or fall behind into the past where everything is familiar. It's always the year 2000 or 1948. Or 14231. It doesn't matter. But for the rest of us, stop wasting our time with stupid laws when there are a lot of other things to worry about.

Hate Clock Switching? You are not Alone!

Hate daylight saving time? While this proposition will stop the time changing ritual, it will make Daylight Time permanent - with no Savings at all. Any parent who has ever had to crawl out of bed to make sure a groggy teenager gets to school on time after the clocks “spring forward” an hour, the idea of doing away with daylight saving time probably sounds like a no-brainer. Or people who are just plain annoyed by this twice yearly ritual would say - good riddance!  But try getting up in the pitch dark for a few months - it's like living in Alaska (but with mild winters.) But rest assured, there are plenty of people who agree that it's worth the hassle. Like the fine folks at Brietbart who criticize President Nixon, "desperate to look effective" for his role in making Daylight Savings Time permanent. "What started off as an crisis measure has lasted for 43 years..." Hey! It looks like California liberals and the alt right have something in common!

Do you think we're being scary and alarmist? Take a look at the simplistic "Pro-Proposition 7" website. Did you look? Don't bother. It's full of spurious "scientific facts" about Heart Attacks increasing 25%, workplace injuries increasing, etc. But dig deeper into how they arrived at these changes. It's almost a STATISTICALLY insignificant difference. Where are the dead bodies littering the streets every spring? Why are they using  FEAR tactics? WHAT IS THEIR REAL AGENDA?

Direct Demon-ocracy

It's election season in California, and that means one thing: last-minute cramming for propositions. Why can't politicians just figure this stuff out on their own? Isn't that what we pay them for? There’s nothing like it in the rest of the country – or the world," says Joe Mathews, who's co-president of the Global Forum on Direct Democracy and a columnist at Zócalo Public Square. "It’s the most expensive system in the world, and it’s the most inflexible system in the world."

Just because you're a local lawmaker who watches a few editorials on TV doesn't mean you're qualified to use a powerful tool like direct democracy to foist your half-baked opinions on the populace who may not even care about your dopey cause. If you really want to amend time, do it the long way. Don't mess with California's time and energy.

Universal Time is the Hard Answer

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC ) is a time scale that combines the output of some 400 highly precise atomic clocks worldwide, and provides the exact speed for our clocks to tick. It's the same everywhere on our planet. So when you make an appointment at noon UTC, it's the same noon as everywhere else on the planet. The sun may not be up, or you may be asleep, but it's still the same time - because - now is the same now as everywhere on this planet (give or take a new tiny tiny fractions of a second.) Getting used to adopting UTC will probably be as hard as adopting the metric system, so no political really wants to get bogged down in it. But it's there. It exists, and you can look it up for yourself.
